Tips for renting in Marseille
Book at least four to six weeks ahead for a wedding or a large event. Peak season runs May to October, and marquees, canopies and lounge furniture are the first to sell out. Year-end celebrations create a second demand spike.
Ask for an all-inclusive quote: delivery, setup, takedown and pickup. Online prices often exclude handling, out-of-zone transport and extras (flooring, ballast, safety lighting). Check the deposit and insurance terms, especially for outdoor structures exposed to the mistral.
The mistral is the local factor you can't ignore. A marquee or canopy must be ballasted or anchored to regulation standards; reputable providers handle this at setup. Have a covered backup plan for any outdoor event between March and September.
Specify the exact venue (bastide, beach, rooftop, hall), guest count and format (seated, standing, cocktail, banquet) from the outset. The provider will tailor the proposal: Provençal bastides often have narrow access roads and gravel grounds that call for specific equipment.
For smaller parties, several Marseille providers offer all-in-one packs (tableware, glasses, linens, a few decor pieces) with depot pickup, which helps keep delivery costs down.
